The Hot/Crazy Scale – Just because she’s hot, doesn’t mean she’s worth it
The Hot/Crazy Scale (HCS) is a scale that helps men make the decision whether or not to get involved with someone. Although fairly simple, the HCS is extremely effective and allows a man to make a quick decision without having to spend too much time deciding. Before I go any further, I feel I should mention that the Hot/Crazy Scale was thought up by a damn fine man, Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother. Yeah, I know he’s fictitious, but the character is awesomely manly.
“The theory of evolution alleges that humans evolved from monkeys. If we accept this “theory,” then we must also accept that over the course of millions of years, women have become more attractive, less hairy and infinitely crazier.” – Barney Stinson
To describe the Hot/Crazy Scale is fairly easy, but doesn’t allow you to get a good grasp on what it truly is. This is why I have put together several visual aids for you:
As you can see, it’s very straight forward. You basically have a good side and a bad side. The good is represented by the blue. This side is hot but underneath the Vicky Mendoza Diagonal. The Ideal Zone is where you want all your girls to be – hot, but very little crazy.
Opposite the good side, there’s obviously a bad side, represented in red. This is everything you don’t want. It’s very important that you only associate with girls on the blue side. It will cause you much less grief.
When using the Hot/Crazy Scale, there are a few things you should note. For one, the hotter a girl is, the crazier she is allowed to be. You can have a perfectly normal but ugly girlfriend or a super-hot but anger-filled model girlfriend. Both are acceptable as they are under the Diagonal, even though the model is at least 10 times crazier. Secondly, just because a girl starts at one place on the scale, doesn’t mean she will stay there. Their placing on the HCS is dynamic. Your less attractive girlfriend can shoot up above the diagonal, just as your raging model can all of a sudden drop below.
To further illustrate the point, I have taken a few famous ladies and placed them on the HCS:
I’m sure that there will be guys out there that don’t agree with me, but that’s because it’s a matter of perception. A crazier guy is going to think a psycho girl is less crazy. An uglier guy might think an uglier girl is hotter than a good looking guy would.
The main lesson here is to simply stay on the right side of the diagonal. Do that and you’re golden.

I like the Giada De Laurentiis placement.
There really should be a kick-ass food preparation bonus added to the scale.

Yes, it’s not right, but I must admit to having put up with more craziness in the past IF she was also cute. I try to screen out any sign of madness at an early stage now, though – it’s just not worth it.
This is amazing! I’m doing research on the way more attractive women are perceived as “crazy” and this is very helpful! Cited & referenced in post:)
