Ridiculous Goal by Ovechkin
Written by: Tim
Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals is no stranger to incredible hockey play and near-impossible goals. This goal; however, scored against the Phoenix Coyotes on Jan 15, 2006, is absolutely ridiculous.
Ovechkin skates up the right wing and breaks towards the net. The D-man lifts Ovechkin’s stick. Ovechkin brings his stick up and over the D-man, gets tripped and falls to his back. While on his back with one hand on his stick, he manages to get his stick back on the puck and fire it past the Phoenix goaltender.
You pretty much have to see this goal to believe it. Listen to the commentators and watch the reactions of the other players. If I played for Phoenix, I wouldn’t even be mad if this goal was scored on me. I’d just be pumped I got to see it. Especially since it is 5-1 Washington with 8 minutes left in the game at the time of the goal.
